Almost every owner-managed Ontario corporation is. If unsure, leave it as yes.

Deadlines for a year end of

General rules only. Weekend and holiday adjustments, accelerated remitter status, first-year corporations and CRA-specific circumstances can move these dates. Confirm your own before relying on them.

Have someone else track these

The calendar file covers every dated deadline at once and sets a reminder two weeks before each. On a phone, the + Add to calendar link beside each date is usually quicker. The email reminders need nothing imported at all: two weeks before each of your dates, nothing else, and one click stops them.

The two dates people get wrong

The balance is due before the return. A CCPC claiming the small business deduction pays the balance three months after year end, but does not have to file until six months after. Interest starts running at the three-month mark on money you have not calculated yet. That is why a rough estimate in month two is worth doing.

T4 and T5 slips run on the calendar year, not your fiscal year. They are due the last day of February following the calendar year the payments were made, whatever your year end is. Businesses with an off-calendar year end miss this one regularly.

Rather not track these yourself?

Clients on a full-service package do not watch these dates. We file on schedule and tell you what is coming before it arrives.
