Use of this website

This site is owned and operated by SKG Financial Inc. Accessing it, by any means, is use of it and acceptance of these terms together with our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may change these terms, in which case the revised version is posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that is acceptance of the change.

Information here is general, not advice

Everything on this site, including the guides, the tables and the results produced by the free tools, is general information current at the date shown on the page. It is not accounting, tax or legal advice for any particular person or business, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Tax rules change, GST/HST treatment is fact-specific, and figures that were right last year may not be right now. Confirm your own position before acting on anything here.

The free tools

The tools run in your browser and are calculators, not opinions.

• The deadline checker applies the general rules to the fiscal year end you enter. It does not account for every exception, weekend and holiday adjustment, accelerated remitter status, first-year corporation or CRA-specific circumstance.
• The salary versus dividend calculator does arithmetic on stated assumptions for a single Ontario owner-manager. It makes no recommendation and it is not a plan.
• The subcontractor check reports which way the factors point. It does not determine status. Only the Canada Revenue Agency or a court can do that, and a CPP/EI ruling is the formal route if you need certainty.
• The HST lookup covers common cases. GST/HST status turns on the facts of the particular supply, including who provided it and why.
• The accountant self-check is a checklist, not an assessment of any firm. It scores your own answers about services you say you do or do not receive. It is not a review of anyone's work, it does not assess the competence or conduct of any person, and no conclusion should be drawn from a score about whether anything has been done incorrectly.

Do not rely on any output without confirming it against your own situation.

No client relationship

Using this site, running a tool, booking a call or sending us information does not create a client relationship and does not make us responsible for your filings. A relationship begins only when both sides have signed an engagement letter setting out the scope, the fee and the terms of the work. Information you send us before that is not treated as privileged.

Text message programme

Where you have ticked the SMS consent box on one of our forms, we send appointment confirmations, reminders, rescheduling updates and support replies to the number you gave. You must be 18 or over to take part. Reply STOP at any time to end it, or HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies with your own appointments, standard message and data rates may apply, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not share opt-in data or phone numbers with third parties for marketing. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.

Intellectual property

The content, layout, branding, tools and materials on this site belong to SKG Financial Inc. or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read pages, print them, quote short extracts with attribution and a link, and share links, for your own or your business's internal use, provided you keep any notices intact. You may not republish the content in bulk, resell it, or present it as your own. Automated access is permitted to the extent allowed by the robots.txt file published at this domain.

Material you send us

If you send us material for publication, such as a testimonial or a comment, you confirm you have the right to do so and you give us permission to publish, edit and reproduce it in connection with the practice. This does not apply to your confidential client information, which is governed by our engagement letter and the Privacy Policy.

Availability

The site is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that the information on it is complete or current at the moment you read it. We may change or withdraw any part of it without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, SKG Financial Inc. is not liable for any loss or damage, including indirect or consequential loss, arising from use of this site or reliance on anything published on it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the fees you have paid us for the service the claim relates to and CAD $500.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right you have that cannot be limited or excluded by law. In particular, if you are a consumer within the meaning of Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002, nothing here affects the deemed warranty of reasonably acceptable quality under section 9 of that Act, or any other right that Act gives you.

Your responsibility

If you use anything on this site in your business, you remain responsible for your own filings and your own positions. You agree to indemnify SKG Financial Inc. against any claim brought by a third party arising from your use of the site or the tools, or from your republication of anything on it, except to the extent the claim arises from our own negligence or wilful misconduct.

Links to other sites

We link to third-party sites, including our scheduling platform and Canada Revenue Agency resources. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for the content, products or privacy practices of those sites. Dealings you have with a third party are between you and them.

Suspension of access

We may restrict or withdraw access to the site where it is being used in a way that breaches these terms, damages the site, or is unlawful.

If part of these terms fails

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.
